Green Roof Revival Ltd operates the Green Roof Alerts portal ("the Portal"). We help green roof owners and managers monitor weather conditions that might affect their roofs and plants.

This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our Portal.

When you sign up, we collect:

Your name (optional)
Your password (stored securely, never in plain text)

Roof and location data

To provide weather alerts, we collect:

Your roof location (postcode or coordinates)
Roof details you choose to share (size, plant types, etc.)

Usage data

We automatically collect:

When you log in
Which alerts you view
Your alert preferences

Weather data

We fetch weather information from OpenWeather API based on your roof locations. This data relates to locations, not to you personally.

How we use your information

We use your data to:

Send you weather alerts relevant to your roof locations
Improve our alert accuracy and timing
Respond to your support requests
Send service updates (you can opt out of non-essential emails)

We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

We process your data based on:

Contract: To provide the alert service you signed up for
Legitimate interests: To improve our service and prevent misuse
Consent: For optional marketing communications (you can withdraw anytime)

Where we store your data

Your data is stored on servers located in the UK and EU, using Supabase as our database provider. We do not transfer your personal data outside the UK/EU without appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep your data

Account data: Until you delete your account
Alert history: 12 months, then automatically deleted
Usage logs: 90 days

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

Access your data — request a copy of what we hold
Correct inaccurate information
Delete your account and all associated data
Export your data in a portable format
Object to certain processing
Withdraw consent for optional processing

Data deletion

You can delete your account at any time through your account settings. When you delete your account:

Your personal information is removed within 30 days
Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for service improvement
Backup copies are purged within 90 days

Cookies

We use essential cookies to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Third-party services

We use:

OpenWeather API — to fetch weather data (they receive location coordinates only, not your personal details)
Supabase — database hosting (UK/EU servers)

Children

Our service is not intended for anyone under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

We may update this policy occasionally. We'll notify you of significant changes by email or through the Portal.
